NORM FRESE, President — retired in 2000 after a distinguished 30-year career with the Cook County Sheriff's Police. Norm, the founding president of ICOPs, has been active in the Police Labor Movement since 1985. He is regarded as a true innovator and a tough negotiator for ICOPs union members.

SAM STRATTON, Vice-President — joined the Winthrop Harbor Police Department as a community service officer in 2001, became a Police Officer upon graduating from the academy, and is part of the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force. Sam served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 14 years and was activated twice, once to Iraq. He has received multiple awards including the Purple Heart.

JUAN MAZARIEGOS, Secretary-Treasurer — has been on the Deerfield police force since 1999, first as a Police Officer and since 2001 as a Detective. Juan came to the U.S. from Guatemala as a child and is the first bilingual Police Officer in Deerfield. Prior to joining the Deerfield Police Department, he was a Maywood Police Officer for three years and worked in utility construction for ten years.

RICHARD BRUNO, Staff Representative — retired May 1, 2006 after serving 29 years with the Village of Berkeley Police Department. As a highly-effective and respected Police Officer, he was promoted to Sergeant in 1986 and later detailed to the Northeast Metro Auto Theft Task Force for the State of Illinois covering Cook County, where he served as the Field Supervisor. In June 2006, Rich joined the ICOPs staff.
